International Congress of Tobacco Addiction
The International Congress of Tobacco Addiction was held online by Green Crescent on November 29-30, 2022. Participating in the congress were 22 researchers from 12 countries, including notable names from such institutions as the World Health Organization (WHO), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union), Curtin University, University of Barcelona, Florida International University and the University of Waterloo.
Prof. Mücahit Öztürk delivered the opening speech at the congress, which was held to provide the opportunity for the international community to share knowledge and best practices as well as to constitute new frameworks with scientific and evidence-based approaches on tobacco addiction. The congress, followed by over 4,000 participants, focused on 7 main themes:

Prevention, response and advocacy activities, new risks and dangers related to tobacco addiction,

Innovative policy, action plan and intervention program proposals in the fight against tobacco addiction,

Impact of COVID-19 pandemic on tobacco use and smoking behavior.
Attended by experts from such countries as the United States, Australia, Georgia, Spain, Switzerland, Canada, Egypt, Singapore and Jordan new risks and dangers related to tobacco addiction, health benefits of smoking cessation, global developments in the prevention of tobacco addiction during the pandemic were addressed.
